This week in Kindergarten, the children have been learning about California. This follows on from Mrs Smiths recent visit to California to visit The Little Pre-School and other educational settings.
Mrs Smith has been explaining to the children about her time at The Little Pre-School and how the two schools are the same in many ways, but there are also many differences. Mrs Smith began to explain about time differences, how when the children at Vernon Lodge were getting ready for bed, the Pre-School children were having their lunch. Mrs Smith also explained certain language differences such as trash and rubbish, as well as looking at maps of the area, showing the children some of the native animals and looking at the differences and similarities in the US flag and the Union Jack.
The children in Kindergarten then painted a poster using the colours of the American flag. The picture changed many times as the children began experimenting with different ways of using paints, using sponges, rollers, brushes and of course their hands! They even finished off their poster with some glitter!!
We know the children will certainly enjoy this summer term as they learn more about Mrs Smiths experiences in California. If you missed our previous news item on the California visit, you will be able to read about it here.
