The ‘Friends’ committee was formed in the 1980′s, soon after the establishment of the Kindergarten and School. Over the years, there have been many committed parents who have worked tirelessly to organise events for the enjoyment of Vernon Lodge families.
The Friends have raised funds to provide many ‘extras’ for the children. For example, they purchased the school pavilion in 1991, and in 2000 they held a promise auction to coincide with the Millennium celebrations, which raised funds for the tennis court. They refurbished the Library in 2002, have provided a new lighting system for the stage, and outdoor play equipment. More recently, they have helped to finance the interactive whiteboards.
The committee always organise refreshments at the many school functions, they also provide presents for Christmas parties and even arrange a visit from Santa! Their support in so many ways is greatly valued by the school community.
