Celebrating 30 Years!

Celebrating 30 Years!

Set in an lovely rural location for the past 30 years, Vernon Lodge has provided the perfect environment – open from 8am till 5.30pm – in which to educate young boys and girls from 2-11 years. With its country garden, rolling playing field and safe large car park, even the classrooms, and school hall are designed to blend in with the rural setting. Facilities include an outdoor safety surface play area, a wooden climbing ‘Fort VL’ and a garden to explore and play in. Vernon Lodge is a unique school, so please press the safety intercom on the gate and step into a very special place where children really don’t have to grow up too soon.

The Kindergarten and Early Years Department have been awarded outstanding with teachers who will impress you: “you even think about my child on a Saturday!” a parent has commented. Boys and girls may attend from 2 years, morning or afternoon sessions, part-time or full-time. The Kindergarten enjoys all the benefits of the school, especially in music, PE and IT, and provides an excellent start in reading, writing and numeracy.

Our Prep School with its small classes and dedicated teachers are the key to success, opportunity and choice. Parents are kept regularly informed of their child’s progress throughout the academic year. Vernon Lodge has a reputation for ‘getting results’, which is demonstrated by the many scholarships achieved and outstanding entrance exam results to a variety of senior schools. The Junior pupils have traditional desks, which they love, in contrast to the up-to-date IT equipment in all classrooms. Support is provided for pupils with special needs.

Year Six

One of the many things that the year six children look forward to are their special responsibilities such as monitors and librarians, they also have the opportunity to apply for the status of House Captain or Vice House Captain.

Our small classes ensure more individual attention, and greater opportunity to excel in extra-curricular activities. Recently, a Year 6 pupil won the ISA Midlands Tennis Tournament, and our gymnastics team won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Midlands ISA Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham. Last year many juniors enjoyed an action-packed YHA trip to Conwy in North Wales and are looking forward to visiting York in May. Music and drama are very much a part of the school, and all children learn French.

We recognise the need for competitive fees;  scholarships and bursaries are available for talented children. Employers’ child care vouchers are accepted and the early years government nursery funding is available for 3 and 4 year-olds.

Come and see for yourself and meet our happy, well-mannered pupils and their teachers.
